Couperose is a network of small, red (sometimes blue) blood vessels in the face, neck or décolleté. Couperose is basically harmless, but many people find it annoying because a healthy and smooth facial skin is one of the most pursued beauty ideals for both men and women. Fortunately, we can treat couperose well and your skin can shine again.
An effective method of removing couperose is Light Flash Therapy, also known as Intense Pulsed Light (IPL). At Skin Project we work with the Lumecca. The best and the safest way to remove couperose. Due to proper light distribution and built-in cooling system, the Lumecca is suitable for all skin types, even for pigmented skin.
The treatment starts with inspecting and cleaning the skin, after which the settings are tailor-made. We start with a test pulse and a layer of cooling gel that provides extra comfort. The required number of pulses is then applied to the treatment area. Each pulse consists of a flash of light and feels like a small prick in the skin, a short heat sensation, which disappears immediately after the pulse. An additional advantage is that the heat in the skin stimulates the production of collagen and elastin. The handpiece has a cooling system, making the treatment well tolerated.
The Lumecca is CE and FDA certified, which ensures the safety of the equipment.
What effect can you expect?
Small vessels sometimes disappear after just one treatment. Larger areas or deeper vessels often require multiple treatments. But after each treatment, the blood vessels will become less visible. The body clears the vessels within a few weeks, gradually reducing the vessels. On average you need between 3-5 treatments, with an interval of 4 to 6 weeks.
Important to know
The skin should not be sun-tanned before an IPL treatment. The skin may swell slightly and become red after treatment, and small crusts may also develop, but this is always temporary. If desired, we can also advise you on the right post-treatment cream and foundation. These products have been specially developed for application after cosmetic treatment and ensure that the recovery of damaged skin is accelerated.
Health insurance reimbursement
Treatment for facial rosacea can possibly be reimbursed under the supplementary health insurance. Skin Project is recognized by all health insurers.
