Peeling season
It's that time again, the peeling season is starting. Do you know what this means?
Now that summer is officially over and the sun is much less powerful, your skin might need a boost. In the summer, the skin creates a protective layer against UV radiation, which can make the skin drier, more sensitive, or even (due to the thickened stratum corneum) have more impurities. To refresh the skin, a peel can provide a great solution. And coincidentally, autumn is the perfect season to start with this.
The difference between summer and winter peels
In our previous blog, we told you that it is also possible to work on the skin in the summer, especially with milder peels where the skin recovers and peels faster. Because there is significantly less UV radiation in the autumn and winter, deeper peels can be performed. These peels contain higher percentages of active ingredients and penetrate into the deeper skin layers, such as the TCA peels. We love it! :)
The cell-renewing properties of a peel
Peels based on TCA acids are used for both medical and cosmetic indications. It is the peel that can penetrate the deepest into the skin. It reaches the middle skin layer and even towards the lower skin layer. The skin heals on its own, which is characterized by peeling. This stimulates the new skin layer to come to the surface more quickly. Pigmentation spots are lightened, fine lines and wrinkles are filled, and (acne) scars are significantly reduced. This results in a smooth and even skin.
Are deeper peels suitable for everyone?
A TCA peel remains on the skin after it is applied because it neutralizes acid on its own. After the treatment, the skin feels sensitive, is red, and may feel warm. This persists throughout the day. From the second to third day, the skin will start to peel. This is good, as it means that cell renewal is being stimulated. The recovery will last approximately 7-10 days in total, but may vary from person to person.
The peels can only be performed when the skin is well prepared. This means that at home, you must work with active ingredients for at least two to three weeks. Among other things, with the exfoliant Foamer 15 (15% glycolic acid), the night cream Light Ceutic or Turn and/or in combination with retinol (0.5 / 1.0 vitamin A acid) from Dermaceutic. These products ensure that the skin gets used to active ingredients, allowing us to work more safely, deeply, and effectively. The skin reacts less intensely to the peels and recovers faster. Additionally, you are already exfoliating the skin at home, which improves the skin's permeability, resulting in much faster results.
The TCA peels (12%, 15%, 18%) are suitable for all skin types. Are you curious about this treatment? Our skin therapists offer a free and non-binding consultation to assess your skin and create a treatment plan.
