Peeling in the summer, is this actually allowed?

As graduated HBO skin therapists, we often hear in the clinic that clients find it scary to undergo a peel in the summer. They hear in their surroundings that this is not possible at all. At Skin Project, we have 12 to 15 different peels, which are tailored and can also be done in the summer months. After all, chemical peels are also used in other warmer countries like Italy and Spain. In this blog, we will delve deeper into this, so you can also work on your skin in the summer.
Function of chemical peel
To start at the beginning, a chemical peel is a liquid with active ingredients that can vary per indication. The liquid is applied to clean skin. The duration, intensity, and skin reaction vary per peel and skin indication. The main goal of the chemical peel is to create controlled damage to the epidermis and dermis, or the upper and middle skin layers. This results in an improved and renewed skin structure. In the past, peels were known for their peeling effect. Most people think this is necessary for effectiveness, but did you know that there are now peels that do not require peeling and still work effectively? These can be done in the summer, provided that the aftercare advice is followed properly.
Why a peel in the summer?
In addition to the chemical peel from the brand Dermaceutic, we at Skin Project also work with the chemical peels from Theraderm. These peels are applicable to all skin types and can be performed all year round. The peels are aimed at acne and pigment-sensitive skin, such as melasma, but also at skin laxity. In the summer months, your skin endures a lot. Think of skin thickening as a protective layer against the sun, the many layers of SPF (sun protection) that are applied which can clog the skin, and potential pigment damage. Because the peels from Theraderm contain high percentages of antioxidants, they protect the skin in the summer against free radicals. Think of exhaust fumes, smoke, and UV radiation. This allows you to suppress and even out any hyperpigmentation that is stimulated by UV radiation, and limits sun damage.
Additionally, you are already preparing your skin to transition to deeper peels after the summer. Several reasons to start enjoying a 'Skin Project' in the summer.
