Pigment spots

Almost everyone has to deal with pigmentation spots over the years. Pigment is also seen as the new wrinkle, more and more people experience this as skin aging. Pigment spots are, as it were, an accumulation of melanin (pigment) in the skin, which can be recognized by an irregular complexion and dark discolorations of the skin. Most pigment spots occur where the sun is easily accessible, such as the face, décolleté, hands, shoulders and limbs. Some pigment spots are already present at birth. Pigmentation spots usually increase as we age. Hormone fluctuations or inflammation and wounds also affect the pigment cells. With a skin therapeutic pigment treatment we can rid you of pigmentation spots!

Behandelingen

At Skin Project we can treat pigmentation spots easily and safely. There are various treatments available for pigmentation spots. Which treatment works best depends on your skin type and type of pigment. A treatment to remove pigmentation spots can be done with IPL (Intense Pulsed Light), chemical peels or microneedling.

Due to IPL treatments, pigment spots will fade or even disappear completely and you will get an even and fresh look. In addition, the collagen in the skin will be stimulated and this will lead to skin tightening. With peelings and microneedling, the skin structure will refine, which will reduce pores, wrinkles and discolorations. This creates a fresher skin color and a smooth and even skin.

IPL treatment

An effective method to remove superficial pigment spots and to level the skin is Flash Light Therapy, also known as Intense Pulsed Light (IPL). At Skin Project we work with the Lumecca of the InMode system. The best and safest way to remove pigmentation spots. Due to the correct light distribution and built-in cooling system, the Lumecca is suitable for all skin types, even for pigmented skin.

Each pulse emits a flash of light with a spectrum of wavelengths. This special light absorbs the reddish brown color of the pigment spot in the skin. A flash of light feels like a small prick in the skin, a short heat sensation, which disappears immediately after the pulse. An additional advantage is that the heat in the skin stimulates the production of collagen and elastin. The handpiece contains a cooling system, which makes the treatment well tolerated.

The InMode is CE and FDA certified, which monitors the safety of the equipment.

Chemische peeling

Chemical peels are liquids that consist of natural acids. At Skin Project working with medical peels based on Glycolic Acid, Salicylic Acid, Lactic Acid, Tranexamic Acid, Mandelic Acid, Vitamin C Acid, Kojic Acid or Trichloroacetic Acid (TCA). Each acid has unique properties in the skin. There is a suitable peeling for every skin

The high-quality peels of the Dermaceutic brand lead to a complete solution for tackling various skin problems, including pigmentation spots. The depth into which the peeling penetrates depends on the type of ingredients we use. We determine this together by tailoring it to your individual wishes.

Microneedling

Microneedling is a scientifically recognized and safe technique with minimal downtime. Superfine needles made of surgical steel create hundreds of micro-channels in the skin. This activates the natural recovery process deep in the skin and creates new collagen (type 3) and elastin. You get smoother and more even skin. Dark circles under the eyes can also be reduced. During the treatment, we add high-quality skin boosters or medical peels with active ingredients to the skin, which penetrate up to 200 times more into the skin. Together we determine which skin booster or medical peels with active ingredients, such as mandelic acid, tranexamic acid, kojic acid, vitamin C acid or Trichloroacetic acid (TCA) for stabilizing and reducing the pigment, best suit the skin and pigment problems.

Combination treatment

For an optimal result, we often combine several skin-improving techniques in one treatment. E.g. an IPL treatment in combination with with a chemical peel. These treatments are to improve pigmentation. The effect and results have been extensively researched and scientifically proven.

What effect can you expect?

The recovery of the skin after an IPL treatment takes about 7 to 10 days. On average, 1-3 treatments are required, with an interval of 6 weeks. The recovery from a chemical peel or microneedling treatment is about 3 to 5 days. On average, 3 to 6 treatments are required, with an interval of 3 to 6 weeks.

How you deal with sunlight after treatment determines the maintenance of the treatment results. That is why we always pass on to our clients: daylight is sunlight, the best pigment suppressor is to apply at least a cream with SPF 50 every day! Prevention is better than cure. Make sure to maintain the results you have achieved and continue to protect your skin daily all year round. We find it extremely important at Skin Project to provide honest and transparent information.

Belangrijk om te weten

The skin must not be too tanned before an IPL treatment. The skin may swell slightly and become red after the treatment, and small scabs may also form, but this is always temporary. If desired, we can also advise you on the right post-treatment cream and foundation. These products have been specially developed for application after a cosmetic treatment and ensure that the recovery of damaged skin is accelerated.

Reimbursement health insurance

Treatment for pigmentation spots in the face can possibly be reimbursed under camouflage therapy from the additional health insurance. The amount of your reimbursement depends on your insurance. In the case of reimbursements from the supplementary insurance, no claim is made on your deductible. Skin Project is recognized by all health insurers.

About pigmentation spots

What is the cause of pigmentation spots?

There are various causes that cause pigmentation spots. Think of prolonged exposure to sunlight, the tanning bed and too little sun protection. Pigmentation spots can also be caused by wounds on the skin, certain medication, hormonal changes or pregnancy. In the latter case we speak of a pregnancy mask or melasma.

What is the difference between pigmentation spots and melasma?
Is a laser unsafe for your health?

The lasers we work with at Skin Project have a medical CE approval and are FDA approved. The lasers therefore meet strict safety requirements. In addition, you will be treated by an experienced BIG-registered skin therapist. With the right equipment and knowledge you are in safe hands. Unfortunately, we regularly see this going wrong at other skin clinics or salons. Be critical with which equipment and by which practitioner you have treated, because you only have one skin!

Are the treatments painful?

No, in general the treatment is not painful, but skin therapeutic treatments are sometimes experienced as sensitive.

Are pigment treatments reimbursed?
Er zijn enkele zorgverzekeraars die ook de pigment- en laserbehandelingen vergoeden. Deze laserbehandelingen worden ingezet om pigmentvlekken in het gezicht te verminderen of te verwijderen.
Why do I choose Skin Project?
